BET Lists Their Top 10 Rappers of the 21st Century…Do You Agree With This List???

10. Rick Ross
“Rick Ross bossed up the game in the 21st century. He is one of the few rappers to survive a 50 Cent rivalry by continuing to put out quality music.”

9. Jadakiss
“Jadakiss has always been praised for his complex rhymes and the meaning behind his words.”

8. Young Jeezy
“Young Jeezy bumps in every whip, from the North to the South. This Southern MC is respected for his hardcore delivery and thug narratives. ”

7. Drake
“Aubrey “Drake” Graham has managed to win over the hearts of hip hop fans this past year. After releasing his debut album, “Thank Me Later,” Drake has shown that he is the one to watch. ”

6. Ludacris
“It’s hard to talk about the 21st century without mentioning Ludacris. The Atlanta-based rapper is arguably one of the most consistent when it comes to the quality of his music. ”

5. T.I.
“ATL-native T.I. may be controversial in his actions, but when it comes to rap, this MC has got the South on lock.”

4. 50 Cent
“In less than 10 years, 50 Cent has released four albums, three of which have gone platinum (or in some cases, multi-platinum). This controversial rapper has consistently put out hits.”

3. Kanye West
“The highly successful rapper/producer Kanye West is more than just a rapper. But the level of his rap game has been elevated since his debut.”

2. Lil Wayne
“Lil’ Wayne is a rock star. The Young Money Millionaire has shown the most growth in the 21st century.”

1. EMINEM
“Selling more records than anyone on the list, Eminem is not only praised for his commercial success, but is highly respected by his peers for his skill.”

  3. onyi nwosu on October 16, 2010 at 10:16 am

for reals. i think this list was created to intentionally leave jay off it. that’s cold. how many of the cats on this list can sell out the garden even once and not 3 times within the span of a week like jigga?

  4. david on October 16, 2010 at 10:19 am

Seriously I would say about 5 of them don’t belong there, Jadakiss should be top 3 take wayne out and put jay in

  5. Ace October on October 16, 2010 at 10:21 am

The list was for everyone who put out they’re first album in the 21st Century…meaning after 1999…

  6. AndreX on October 16, 2010 at 10:21 am

    NO JAY IS FOUL!

  8. Tamii on October 16, 2010 at 10:24 am

How in the Hell can you sleep on Jay-Z? I need for them (BET) to get it together. I just don’t appreciate it….#HOVA

  9. Dj seriosblack hardpack dj's on October 16, 2010 at 10:27 am

Hardly any of them had anything on my man BIG-L the lyrical fulltime Harlem Repazenta, but i guess since he was’nt commmercial enough his contributions don’t matter huh???

  10. Jay C.. on October 16, 2010 at 10:29 am

This was the top 10 for rappers who started out or got hot in the new millennium .. Jay has been hot since the 90’s … so they couldn’t put him in.. wayne , jadakiss who started in the 90’s too but it was this past decade they were considered as one of the hottest mc’s in the game… I don’t know how rick ross made it , and Drake needs a couple more albums and hits to be mentioned ..

  11. justin on October 16, 2010 at 10:43 am

Lmao this is why even black people don’t mess with #BET like that anymore. Jay-z should’ve been number 1 or 2. That’s a shame, #BET is what killed hip hop. Not wack rappers. Also, how do you have Drake and jeezy up there…? Lmao smh at #BET

  12. 100 on October 16, 2010 at 10:47 am

ok first off no J.. wow 2nd Drake only been here 18 months so he is out.. Cam has done more than Kiss in the game w Vado Juelz and jim.. so he is in.. and i believe 50 is bigger than Em cuz of his 5 years hiatus.. 50 sales sucked but he still had water movies clothes etc plus banks buck and game.. Nelly MUST be included on sales alone.. and weezy was not relevent until abt 06.. so MY list is
    1. 50
    2. Em
    3. Kanye
    4. Wayne
    5. TI
    6. Luda
    7. Jeezy
    8. Ross
    9. Nelly
    10. Cam

  13. justin on October 16, 2010 at 10:47 am

Take out Jeezy for Lupe. Also where is FAB? Smh

  14. james on October 16, 2010 at 10:50 am

R u kidding. Game should be at least top 5. Cassidy is the best lyricist of all time. Lupe should be up there but he fell off a couple years ago so i understand that. If jigga man isnt up there than eminem shouldnt. his first album was in 1998. 50 cent is trash now. he had one good album get rich or die trying. then he went soft and just awful. the real list should be (not including nas jigga man or eminem)1 weezy 2cassidy 3jada 4juelz 5game 6luda 7kanye 8t.i. 9jeezy 10 drake(when he raps not his pussy singin shit)

  15. james on October 16, 2010 at 10:54 am

    scratch that list above.
    1. Fab
    2. Cassidy
    3. jadakiss
    4. Juelz
    5. Weezy
    6. Game
    7. Kanye
    8. Camron
    9. Jeezy
    10. Luda

Drakes too young. hes nice as hell but he hasnt accomplished nearly as much as any of these guys.

  16. LB on October 16, 2010 at 11:01 am

    1) The entire premise was DESIGNED to omit the mentions of Hov, BIG, Pac, or Nas…

    2) Where is Fab on this list?

    3) Drake has no business up there, PERIOD.

    4) Has anyone REALLY listened top Em’s lyrics? Dope MC, but I don’t own any of his albums. Lyrical cntent scares/worries me.

    5) Is EBT’s…I mean BET’s list even relevant anyway? They lost credibility a long time ago. Even JD said the list wame bullshit, and he was a panelist!!!

  17. PL on October 16, 2010 at 11:34 am

Drake over Juelz Santana AND Killa Cam???? GTFO. Drake barely is better than Jim.

    FABO>JADA too sayin.

  18. marmarrr on October 16, 2010 at 11:37 am

Number 1 wayne… that’s the future but the greats aint goin no where Jada etc etc…its about hot lyrics and makin it rhyme (spittin dat sh*t)

  19. JL on October 16, 2010 at 11:45 am

IF YOU DONT KNOW NOW YOU KNOW…FUCK DRAKE TORONOTO HATES THAT NIGGA WE DARE HIM TO COME OVER HERE THAT ZIONIST….THAT NIGGAS A FREEMASON TO THE CORE

  21. mook on October 16, 2010 at 12:52 pm

remove drake from that list and replace him with game and we cool. (no love for the west coast)

  22. VENOMSBC on October 16, 2010 at 12:53 pm

We can all make arguements for our favorite rappers, and we can imply about lyrical content, sales, musical influence, collaborations, and so forth.. Honestly, Weezy Baby should definately top this list,#2 Eminem.. After that, the debate should be amongst the people.. Big ups to B.E.T. for supplying the hip hop community with something to debate on, but.. The breakout artist of the next year shall be SMITH BOYZ, EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!

  23. patevans2212 on October 16, 2010 at 12:53 pm

Atleast drake admits to being fake but forgetting Jay-Z and putting the POLICE at number 10. ITS OFFICIAL BET IS 100% COMMERCIAL.

  24. c.Christina on October 16, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Who the f*ck came up with this list. Oh well guess that’s why I stopped watching BET a long time ago.

  25. Jay on October 16, 2010 at 3:41 pm

the list that started with fab is the best one .. wayne is good, em is iight switch him and game .. whoever made the list with 50 as number 4 over jada or even t.i is a f***ing retard idc how much money he makes hes wack just like BET .. i hope everyone stops watching it !!

  26. Jay on October 16, 2010 at 3:44 pm

oo yea Red Cafe is the up and coming watch out for him .. and who ever said the SmithBoyz are gonna be nice stfu!

  27. Ben Hop on October 16, 2010 at 5:38 pm

I don’t have a problem with Drake, but he needs to put in more time in the game, and how the he’ll Jay didn’t make the list…….Wow

  28. Alexandria McLean on October 16, 2010 at 6:58 pm

THE LOX should be #1, and Bone Thugs n Harmony should be # 2, then Fabolous #3, and then Kanye, T.I., Young Jeezy, Andre 3000, Remy Ma, Em, and Luda to follow after (not exactly in that order)

  29. Tameeka on October 16, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Jay-Z isn`t on the list because it`s the top 10 rappers that came out in 1999-present.

  30. jameswilkey on October 16, 2010 at 9:25 pm

    That’s crazy!!! Jay
    Weezy

  38. JOSE MEJICANOS on October 18, 2010 at 1:57 pm

IDK what this list was based on, i mean i get it is the top 10 MCs of the 21st cent. but if it was based on record sales then wheres JAY, everything he puts out goes PLATINUM but as much as i dislike his work DRAKE do be sellin specially teenage girls buy his stuff, but if it was based on skillz then wheres FAB, JUELZ, LLOYD BANKS AND JOEL ORTIZ r u trying to tell me that they dont belong in this list? they just biased against NY

  39. Legacy on October 18, 2010 at 2:38 pm

WTF? This list is unacceptable. While I can definitely appreciate a few of the names on this list Rick Ross, Drake and Geezy never, ever should have made this list. Where the hell is Mos, Kwali, Nas, etc etc. SMH. This is a rap list, not a hip hop list!

  40. milwtown Ralph on October 18, 2010 at 5:30 pm

someone was late to meet a deadline and threw that list together WTF!!!!

  41. damnson on October 19, 2010 at 5:41 pm

    WACK list!

    No particular order, top 10 should read;

Game, Kanye, Styles P, 50, J.Cole, Jay Electronica, Jay-Z, Em, Andre 3000, Luda.

BET has officially become Bullshit Everyone Television by publishing drake, wayne and ross up there.

  42. csingh on October 23, 2010 at 7:06 am

jay z and other highly notables arent on the list because they didnt qualify. in order to qualify you needed to make ur debut hit post 1999. hence 21st century

  43. v.v.s on October 23, 2010 at 11:21 pm

weezy belong number 5 drake don’t belong on the list

You guys gotta understand in the beginnning they announced anyone whos made an album before 1999 is automatically excluded from the list that why J isnt on it,yet nelly lupe and fab should have been on fuck rick ross jada and jeezy

  47. OFFICIAL on November 9, 2010 at 11:31 pm

WHY EM NUMBER 1? WHAT BOUT HOV?

  48. It'zARi on December 7, 2010 at 2:38 am

Ok the argument that Jay-Z or anyone should be excluded b/c they dropped their first solo album before 1999 is ridiculous!!!! If your judging the best artist from 1999 to present shouldn’t you be judging the artist on the WORK they put in between that time period and NOT when they first dropped an album… Duh?! Blueprint, Black Album, Blueprint 3, selling out the garden in a day, starting his own record label, surpassing Elvis in number records!!!!!!! None of that counts b/c he dropped his first solo album before 1999!?!?! WTF BET!!!!

  49. katlego Masina on March 23, 2011 at 2:03 am

i might be in south africa but i know Jigga’s #1, Nas & why is Jadakiss not in Top4. fcuk the list. RZA said it Best on Wu-tang Forever Intro “wack MC’s are taking the loot”.
