Four Loko Banned in NY!
Let’s go! I’m so anti-Four Loko! LOL….so nasty and toxic and cheap and gross and….yea, I can go on for a while.
The State Liquor Authority has pressured the state’s biggest beer distributors to stop delivering Four Loko and other caffeinated alcoholic cocktails to New York retailers by Dec.10.
And the maker has agreed to stop shipping its wildly popular drink to New York distributors after Nov. 19.
The dual agreements will allow the SLA to fine any shop owners found to be selling Four Loko without proof it was ordered by the deadline, authorities said.

“I hope this will end the sale of this product in the state,” said SLA Chairman Dennis Rosen.
Jaisen Freeman, co-founder of Phusion Projects, the company that produces Four Loko, gave a tepid endorsement of the agreement.
“We think it shows that we are not turning a deaf ear to what’s going on: that a select few have chosen to abuse our products, drink them while underage or break the law and sell them to minors,” said Freeman.
A 23.5-ounce can of Four Loko contains the amount of alcohol in three cans of beer blended with the caffeine of three cups of coffee.
The “blackout-in-a-can” has been blamed for several deaths, and authorities in Michigan, Washington, Oklahoma and Utah have banned the sale of Four Loko.

That’s bull, There’s nothing stopping any one from mixing red bull and hard liquor’s like Vodka, congac, Whiskey or Rum. Why ban this? When you go to upscale restaurants they serve you coffee after you’ve been drinking wine whats the difference?
There many differences but the main one is that kids are getting easy access and dying.
I agree with jasperfect, to ban only one product is nonsense. There are others out there like it practically the same ingredients and price but they aren’t getting the negative attention like loko. I understand that there have been recent incidents with blackouts and what not but the same can happen with any alcoholic drink consumed in high volumes.

I actually like four lokos. I agree with jasperfect. Just because it’s being banned doesn’t mean I won’t drink red bull with jäger n still have a potential black out. The government is too busy focusing on banning alcoholic beverages instead of trying to fix this broken down economy. This just goes to show how well they prioritize the issues within the US. Banning drinks when they should be sitting in thei conference rooms trying to figure out how to get us more jobs, how to fix this MTA crisis with the higher fares and leads service…. Like come on. They cannot be serious!

Same goes with Four Loko, and alcohol in general. Alcohol doesn’t kill people. I don’t see any other alcoholic beverages blatantly promoting responsible drinking by printing, “We Id” on the label, do you?
I’m sure if we look at any death involving alcohol, we can trace it back to a specific brand and use it as a scapegoat. Why don’t we crack down on the retailers instead of the beverage companies? Better yet, why don’t we actually hold individuals responsible for their own actions?! (gasp)
