Lil Wayne Speaks on Jay-Z Diss in “It’s Good”

We all picked our jaws up off the floor yesterday when we heard one Carter go for the other on a cut off Tha Carter IV, “It’s Good.” Even though Jay had previously made a jab at Weezy’s main man Baby on “H.A.M.”…NO one was expecting Weezy to come out the gate like THAT. The Young Money capo got on the phone with VIBE Magazine shortly after the track’s debut and got his take on the whole thing. Jada already said what he had to say about the track. Find out what Wayne said after the jump.

Marisa Mendez

“I know there won’t be any repercussions behind what I did,” says a confident Wayne when asked if he had second thoughts about recording his acidic verse for ‘It ‘s Good.’ “I know for a fact music is about perception. You can’t do anything but perceive what you hear. I know that for a fact. So I can’t ever be upset about someone’s reaction.”

Wayne added that while he understands the intrigue and buzz behind the record, it’s just another song. “I’m not going to say I don’t know what would happen before I even say [something on record],” he explains. “I do know what will happen. I’m aware of it. But it is what it is.”

Let’s see what’s next!

Amen to that it bothers me so bad that he don’t unleash on these niggas..

  3. nyckid112 on August 25, 2011 at 11:53 am

The shit Lil Wayne said was weak, there is no reason to go back at Wayne for that verse. Come with something like NAS did on Ether and I can see come back with a hot track but a fucking weak verse. Jay save your time and move on.. One NY

  4. 2pulls from BROWNSVILLE on August 25, 2011 at 12:14 pm

every thing weezy said was wack… Hov can send kanye 2 kill both them niggas# Real rap ..what the fuck drake talken bout Rikers Island he never been locked up… they gave Hov the upper hand already…

  5. AndreX on August 25, 2011 at 12:43 pm

Young Money don’t want OLD Money to respond!

Jay will cut his career…….why BABY and respond btw?

  6. FanOfMusic on August 25, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Marketing 101 fellas… If you have an album coming out & need a boost take shots at the throne. Jay doesn’t need name droppin to sell albums (The WTT ALBUM is damn near platinum in a singles driven market) If he responds, that’s only going to boost Carter IV, why would he want do that?. Game knew that as well which is why he took a shot at Jay. If they really wanted to beef w/ Jay those shots wouldn’t come out only when they’re dropping an album. Don’t get caught up in the smoke & mirrors.

  7. bylaw99 on August 25, 2011 at 1:53 pm

You cats kill me with the Jay-Z nuthuggin…Wayne did the exact thing Jay did, Jay didnt put out a freestyle wit that Baby money jab he waited for WTT and released H.A.M now Wayne does it and its wrong..Jay cant continue to think he’s above battling it anything it shows he’s not built for it since Nas shut him down..he’s gone at no one else since then. To be king u must defend your crown.

  8. Voice on August 25, 2011 at 2:09 pm

I find it hilarious how niggas say its wack, wen jay said almost the exact same thing and niggas panties got soggy. It was just a shot, not a diss track. Nas made a whole song devoted to jay; calm down, u damn dirty apes.

    • kevin on August 25, 2011 at 11:24 pm

      True that bro…!!

  9. Redd Dye on August 25, 2011 at 2:38 pm

First of all everyone was so hyped about Ether they fail to realize Jay came back with BluePrint 2 on the BP2 album which wasnt as hardcore as Ether but was one of the realest fact tracks about another nigga I ever heard. Just because Nas had one hot comeback dont mean he won war.
Second, that Wayne verse was trash, its like 10 levels below what Jay spit on H.A.M. Plus im still waiting for Wayne to get back at 50 Cent.

  10. Finally on August 25, 2011 at 2:43 pm

I’m glad Wayne responded the way he did…….fuck lettin that shit slide, that motherfuckers has been talking greasy ever since Wayne started getting hot (since Tha Carter series started), and hes never responded, and always showed respect in interviews, but now that hes goin at Baby too, he finally responds…..

    • kevin on August 25, 2011 at 11:27 pm

      Amen…You’re right bro…!!

  11. confused on August 25, 2011 at 4:00 pm

I am really confused about this whole lil Wayne diss conversation. How is someone who came up under someone else’s label going to come at someone who has cut checks for different artist for years. I also recall he had his own clothing line and even made it possible for another cat to get his own label and clothing line (beenis). Ok let’s take it even further didn’t he make it possible for dipset to go plat. Ok let me go one set further when is the last time you seen someone but their beat man on and mentor him to be the beast he is today..also someone mentioned game..really yall could of keep the dude out the conversation..we talking about rappers. Now about lil Wayne..humm I want to really think about this question..does Wayne really be saying anything lyrical. Psa ham is not even on the album

    • J-black on August 25, 2011 at 11:56 pm

FYI homey H.A.M is on the album the deluxe version.

  12. Nadia on August 25, 2011 at 4:26 pm

  13. RedNasiL on August 25, 2011 at 6:34 pm

  14. Aruba on August 25, 2011 at 7:33 pm

  15. YAYA on August 25, 2011 at 8:25 pm

Ya niggas is crazy, hov put HAM out a while a go already,y this lil fuck gona say sum bout it NOW… As long as hov is around everybody else is second, lil fuck took a line from hov and could NOT MAKE IT IN TO A HOT SONG. Ya heard KISS verse real shit..

  16. tobehonest on August 25, 2011 at 11:26 pm

to be honest i don’t even like Jayz.. i really don’t even understand the hype over him*shrugs* n i’m dead serious… n for lil wayne i like his music and all, but i just understand the Jayz hype at all, i never likes Jay-z music O.O so i cant get into this battle n understand it, because i say wayne won it because i dont understand the hype over jayz

  17. kevin on August 25, 2011 at 11:31 pm

#YMCMB…I’m glad Wayne responded to Jay old ass…Fuck whover don’t like it…#Carter4… Two milli a week…!!

  19. white & navy on August 26, 2011 at 1:48 am

@YaYa, first off take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. HOV is fuckin garbage nd been stealin lines more than any other rapper in his career. HAM came out awhile ago nd no 1 heard weezy till now cuz THE TRACK WAS FOR HIS CARTER IV ALBUM ND WAS RECORDED 3MONTHS AGO U STUPID B1TCH! btw its funny how Jay is suppose to be the best but ask anybody name the top 3 rappers nd i bet eminem nd weezy come b4 him. kanye is better then him

@Nadia, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. Jay was hot back then. hes old news nd only respected for his past cuz to date his lyrics are avg. kanye is better .. i rather listen to gucci mane then Jay no b.s

@confused, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. i dont even need to say s4it 2 u. u made yaself look stupid tryna say weezy dont got lyrics. tell u like everyone else, if Jay is so nice then why does kanye outshine em? stop livin in the past Jay is garbage

@Redd Dye, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. Jays corny ass line about keep it real wit niggas u got baby money son u aint got my lady money…. f4k outta here that is lame as hell. he dont even got his own lady money. beyonce has matched his money if not been behind like 2mil in earnings for the past 3 or 4 years if not more. weezys punchline was way harder nd much more of a disrespect as to his bein a joke.

@FanOfMusic, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. the track was recorded for his carter IV album nd was done 3months ago so why the fuck would he release it dumbass. wayne dont need him to boost his album. right now rather u lame ass fanboys believe it or not, wayne is more relevant that Jay right now nd has been for a long time.

@AndreX, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. Jay aint stupid enough to try nd battle em cuz he knows himself lyrically weezy will kill em. he will never be able to shut weezy down. nd they friends at the end of the day they did it both for hype to 1 another for show.

@2pulls from BROWNSVILLE, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. kanye dont stand a chance against weezy or drake punchline for punchline. all he can beat drake at is his longevity in the game. nd weezy would rape his bumass anyday. nd drake wasnt talkin about himself bein in rikers u stupid b1tch, he was talkin as weezy in tht line.

@nyckid112, take his d1ck out ya mouth kid. nas dissed him with an entire track, why would weezy waste a track on him when all he did was waste a line on weezy. it was a shot fired back u stupid b1tch. nd weezys punchline was harder then Jays lame ass attempt at a diss. hop off da sack faggot.
