(Photos) 7 Movie Posters Banned For Being Too Sexy
Movie posters are a crucial part of advertising for a movie, perhaps almost as important as trailers but what if the poster is too sexy? Check out seven movie posters that were banned for being “too sexy” after the jump.

7. The Outlaw
The poster for this Jane Mansfield movie is tame by today’s standards, but at the time, the focus on her ample bosom got people in a tizzy. The real story behind this controversy is that the film’s director, Howard Hughes, was having a bitch of a time getting the movie released, so he stirred up controversy with this poster in order to incite audience interest.
6. I Spit On Your Grave
The 2008 film was positioned as a female empowerment tale of a woman getting revenge on those who brutally rape her. But the movie actually had very little to do with revenge and is, in fact, gratuitously focused on the rape itself; that the original poster attempted to titillate viewers into seeing it with a sexy shot of a woman’s butt is additionally repulsive.
5. Teeth
Teeth,” an indie film about a girl with “vagina dentata,” was banned for being too naughty. It perfectly depicts what the film is about — rather subtly, I think.
4. The Rules of Attraction
Banned in the U.S. (but allowed in Canada and the U.K.), the poster was cited for posing children’s toys in adult positions. Because children never make their stuffed animals hump.
3. Zack and Miri Make A Porno
Innocent enough at first glance, but the MPAA took a second one and realized they were not psyched on implying that Seth Rogen gets or gives head.
2. The People vs Larry Flint
This original official poster for “The People Vs. Larry Flynt” was, quite ironically considering it’s a film about censorship, banned only in the U.S. by the MPAA — every other country was a-okay with Woody Harrelson posing like Jesus on the cross, nestled between a woman’s legs.
1. Shame
Fox Searchlight knows what they can get away with in the U.S. — not much — but when it comes to marketing their movie “Shame” abroad, they wanted to push the envelope. Now, they didn’t dare put Michael Fassbender’s exposed cock on the Hungarian promotional poster, but they sure as s**t tried to get away with using his semen. What a cool, edgy font. I wonder if I can download it somewhere? Anyway, sadly, the Hungarians were not to fond of the poster and it was banned
