    I tuned in from Orlando (BK native) looking forward to hearing Flex shut Nicki down but I was disappointed…Flex pulled back and let her go off even apologizing for his comments?!? SMH at least the music was worth it #teamRosenberg

  2. djlivelongshot on June 4, 2012 at 11:18 pm

    Nicki kept it one hunnid, can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing.How are you gonna disrespect me and my fans because you’re hype about YOUR favorite artist?Peter Rosenberg maybe had the best intentions but he did it in a very tacky fashion that discounted Nicki’s worth as a performer.Taste is a matter of opinion, whether Nicki makes top 40 or hardcore hip-hop point is she’s the highest selling hip-hop female of all time and probably sold a significant amount of the tickets in that audience

  3. BKtoOTy on June 4, 2012 at 11:24 pm

    Nicki said what she had to but the truth is that Rosenberg wasn’t wrong for stating the truth (and the damn obvious)…that Starships song don’t even RESEMBLE a hip-hop track. Nicki repeated over and over what she was about, making money. So yes, she sells records but that don’t make her music hip-hop it makes it marketable and commercial. Marketable commercial music is smothering hip-hop!

    • djlivelongshot on June 4, 2012 at 11:34 pm

       @BKtoOTy  What does that have to do with her being announced by Rosenberg on stage as “BULLSHIT”? Regardless of anyone’s taste in music, you don’t disrespect an ARTIST music.What if someone said, “this isn’t bullshit nas /f genuine YOU OWE ME”?Nas would’ve did the same thing.That was poor judgement against Rosenberg PERIOD, his word cost Hot97 a performance by Nicki.Her fans aren’t made at her, they’re mad at Rosenberg and Hot97

      • BKtoOTy on June 4, 2012 at 11:49 pm

         @djlivelongshot He expressed his opinion, he didn’t say “here’s Nicki performing bullshit” he simply said that starships isn’t real hip-hop which is FACT. She knows who her audience is and it isn’t real hip-hop fans so she shouldn’t have been offended. No one that considers themselves a true hip-hop fan will listen to starships and a song like Jay’s Takeover and think they’re both hip-hop SMH.

    • CandoWango on June 5, 2012 at 3:05 pm

       @BKtoOTy
       What a hip hop track sound like?

      • BKtoOTy on June 5, 2012 at 8:10 pm

         @CandoWango Listen to Flava in Ya Ear, Rappers Delight, more recently listen to Wayne’s 6 FT 7 FT. THAT’S hip-hop. Good rule of thumb? Anything that could double as a Britney Spears track is NOT hip-hop.

        • CandoWango on June 5, 2012 at 11:52 pm

           @BKtoOTy
           what about king tut the 3rd, super rhyme, the crash crew.  Yeah, roxanne shante???  listen to those first.  Then define hip hop

  4. CandoWango on June 5, 2012 at 12:02 am

    I can’t believe what I am reading, i don’t care how much rosenberg doesn’t like niki, he had no right to try to dis her.  And then again who the hell is rosenberg, “the authority on hip hop” anyone that thinks he is, doesn’t really know what hip hop is.  Its these new hip hop fans that think they know how to define hip hop.  the original hip hop was an expression of ones reality in words, and it is not up to anyone to define, some dudes are lyrical, some dudes can harmonize, but it is all hip hop.  Nicki, was completely right, if someone representing hot 97 has the nerve to dis her, then it is the station that shoud take the blame, funk master flex and all.

         can you yell fire in a crowded room?, can you voice your opinion on the summer jam stage? I didn’t think so

        • djtynitty1 on June 6, 2012 at 2:13 am

           @CandoWango Yes, when you voice your opinion on stage it’s called Lyricism, When you get up there and look and sound like a black brittany spears, it called “time to soul search” or “get the fuck outta the GAME”

    I love Nicki Minaj dont get me wrong i listen to her on a daily basis but im from NY and i’ve been to alot of hip hop concerts that both hot 97 and 105 hosted and i go to listen to hip hop i respect Nicki for what she does as an artist and she makes music for all types of people me personally i think Rosenberg maybe didnt pick the best time to say what he said but it is his opinion and to be honest when i first heard Nicki’s starships i was like wtf i fell in love with the fact that she is a female rapper from Queens and i found it weird that she made a pop song like that but these artists are out there to entertain and sell records so if she makes money for puttin out songs like that then u cant hate on her grind but if ur gunna perform at the biggest hip hop concert of the year i dont expect to be hearin starships thats my opinion she got alot of hip hop songs and she goes in and thats what i would wanna hear from her at summerjam if i wanted to here pop i would be at a z100 concert but Rosenberg and Flex have their opinions and you cant knock them for that

  6. Diamond629 on June 5, 2012 at 3:10 am

    I feel flex was wright nicki should’ve give the fans what they paid for at the end of the day THOSES are the ppl who made her who she is today u should never forget where u came from. Everyone is I intitled to there own opinion it wasnt like he as dissin her he jus saiid he like other songs better the others what’s the big deal… She wack for that.

    • CandoWango on June 5, 2012 at 3:03 pm

       @Diamond629
       Yea, what about Wayne for putting her on, should she forget him? she would have any fans if it wasn’t for him.  He told her to shut it down

  9. doeboy on June 5, 2012 at 12:46 pm

    How she talk bad about all the other artist on summer jam then not 1 of them said anything bad about her that makes her wack and starship is a terrible song I don’t care how much it sells

  10. RamesesMcCorvey on June 5, 2012 at 1:32 pm

    1. Rosenberg wouldn’t dare make a comment about a male artist that was where cause he would have gotten checked back stage but he took a low blow at a female and I mean her team made the call. I understand that’s your job to make low blows but NOT THE FUCKING RIGHT TIME MAN,

    2. I was sitting next to little girls who soul purpose for being there was to see Nikki, like they was crying on the way out the stadium.Nikki you gotta think about the bigger picture.

    3. There are different ways this situation could have been resolved without not performing to the fans… Like make a statement on stage how it was not appreciated and how.you was contemplating not performing but don’t make the fans that take the time and money to come out and SEE YOU.

    4. At the end of the day, ignorance is not something to play around with and I honestly feel both parties took this shit too far,,,, Two wrong don’t make a right and at the end of the day. Nikki u a Millionare, Little kids, moms, fathers, bums, broke niggas, and law biding/tax paying citizens paid they hard earned money to SEE YOUR ASS figuratively and litteraly speaking. YOUR FANS and you shitted on them cause of a DJ comment that could have been resolved back stage..come on mama.

  11. CandoWango on June 5, 2012 at 2:46 pm

    I don’t get it, if someone had the nerve to invite you to perform and then before you go on, call you garbage, you just go on as if it didn’t happen.  That’s like going into a restaurant to spend your money and the proprietor of the restaurant disrespecting you, do you still sit down and eat as that same restaurant.  NO!!! Performing at a concert utimately increases the listeners of a radio station.  if that radio station allows one of it’s disjockies to disrespects the artist it is a matter of principal not fans.  Everyone has an opinion, however it is not broadcasted on a stage where millions of people can hear it.  When and if that ever happens to you, then you talk about nicki. The bigger issue is what everyone is missing.  HIp Hop came out of the hood, but if you are under 40, you don’t know what I am talking about.  To have someone in their 20s or 30s try to define who is hip hop and who is not, is beyond me.  and then to have the nerve to do infront of the world.  Yall just don’t know.  Block parties in brookline projects, the fat boys on Miller ave.  getting on the mic to flow with whatever.  Nicki, got just as much right to not be disrespected before she performs as anyone else.  To try to justify that nonesense is crazy.

  31. djtynitty1 on June 6, 2012 at 1:47 am

    Come on Flex………Why you Gasin these irrelevant so called artists. The only thing they bring to the game is a whole bunch of good pics in XXL and good advertisment for the latest designers. Keep Summer Jam open for real MCs, not Hip Hop “Models”.

  32. TinashaSmith on June 6, 2012 at 8:51 am

    Bottom line is this, whether your a fan of her or not, Rosenberg disrespected her and her fans. So she disrespected they stage point blank period.

  33. TinashaSmith on June 6, 2012 at 8:52 am

    I think Starships is the worst song I’ve heard from a hip hop artist since “Crank dat” but Summer Jam wasn’t the right time for anyone to say anything.
