LIVE UPDATES: (Video) Multiple Deaths, 20 Children Killed, From CT Elementary School Shooting

[Updated at 4:00 p.m. ET on 12/16] All six adults killed at the school were women. Of the 20 children who were shot to death, eight were boys and 12 were girls. All the children were ages 6 or 7.

[Updated at 1:12 p.m. ET on 12/15] Adam Lanza is believed to have had an altercation at the school earlier in the week with some people who are believed to work at the school, so far there is no word as to what the issue was. He also attempted to purchase a gun in the area on Tuesday.

[Updated at 12:09 AM ET on 12/15] It has been reported that the mother of Ryan and Adam Lanza is the one who purchased the guns that would ultimately lead to her demise as well as 26 others in the Sandy Hook Massacre.

[Updated at 5:38 PM ET] The mother of the suspected shooter, Nancy Lanza a teacher at the Sandy Hook Elementary, was found dead in her son’s residence in Newtown.

[Updated at 5:10 PM ET] Governor Dannel P. Malloy will be speaking at Treadwell Park in Newtown, Connecticut, at 6:00 p.m. ET.

[Updated at 5:12 PM ET] U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan has just released a statement.

[Updated at 4:55 PM ET] The shooter has been identified as Adam Lanza

[Updated at 4:30 PM ET] New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg tweets, “My deepest sympathies are with families of those affected, and my determination to stop this madness is stronger than ever.”

[Updated at 4:19 PM ET] Multiple sources say, the shooter is Adam Lanza. The reason there was a mix-up is because Adam had his older brother, Ryan Lanza’s, ID. In other words, Adam Lanza was the shooter, and killed himself at the scene.

[Updated at 4:08 PM ET] The young victims varied from ages 5-10.

[Updated at 4:00 PM ET] The reason why there may be confusion is because the suspected shooter was wearing his brother’s identification. That is why the police is having a hard time giving the public information.

[Updated at 3:55 PM ET] A federal law enforcement source says the shooter arrived and headed directly toward and to his mother’s classroom. Three guns were found at the scene.

[Updated at 3:54 PM ET] There is currently confusion as to whether it was Adam Lanza, 20 or Ryan Lanza, 24 was the actual shooter.

[Updated at 3:47 PM ET] There were a total of 27 people dead at the school. Six adults, 20 children and the shooter were killed, Lt. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police said. 18 students and six adults pronounced dead at the scene, and two others died at the hospital.

[Updated at 3:45 PM ET] Connecticut State Police Lt. Paul Vance has just said that the shooting took place in one section of the school and in two rooms. One of the room’s was a Principal’s office the other was where the suspect’s mother taught in.

[Updated at 3:42 PM ET] Suspected shooter’s twitter may have been found.

[Updated at 3:40 PM ET] It appears that another member of Ryan Lanza’s family is dead. It is still unclear but a senior law enforcement official familiar with the investigation says a brother of Lanza was found dead in a home searched in Hoboken, New Jersey.

[Updated at 2:37 PM ET] Gunman Ryan Lanza’s mother found among the dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

[Updated at 2:33 PM ET] A dead body has also been found in his parents’ home, officials say. Lanza’s body was found in the school.

[Updated at 2:32 PM ET] Connecticut Gov. Malloy will be in Newtown and talk about the tragedy today at 3:30 PM ET.

[Updated at 2:30 PM ET] Shooter’s identity has been revealed.

[Updated at 2:05 PM ET] The death toll is closer to 30 than 20, a federal law enforcement source in Washington says. Most of those killed are children, the source said.

The source also said the suspected gunman, who is dead, had a connection to the school. He would not elaborate on that connection. The source is in touch with authorities on the scene. Reports say the shooter could possibly be a parent of one of the children, but it’s still unclear.

[Updated at 1:49 PM ET] “The scene is secure. The public is not in danger,” says Connecticut State Police spokesman Paul Vance.

[Updated at 1:42 PM ET] Connecticut State Police spokesman Paul Vance said the shooter is dead inside the school.

Vance said there are a number of fatalities that includes both children and adults. He did not add more details about how many people were killed during the school shooting.

[Updated at 1:00 PM ET] Fatality numbers continue to rise. More than 25 people, mostly young children, possibly 17 children killed in Newtown, Conn. school shooting.

[Updated at 12:47 PM ET] President Barack Obama has been informed of the school shooting in Connecticut and will receive regular updates throughout the day, the White House claims.

[Updated at 12:26 PM ET] More than a dozen persons, including children shot and killed at Newtown, Conn.

On top of the gunman dead, there have been more fatalities added to the list of this horrid CT school shooting. At around 12:16 PM today, it was confirmed that the principal and a school psychologist were killed, according to a parent who was at the school during the incident. The vice principal was shot in the foot or the leg, said the eyewitness, who has a second-grader at the school. The shooter apparently had two guns. There was supposedly a second suspect, but it’s still unclear if that holds true. Still no exact number of how many people were injured at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, but the school has a total of 600 students. Scariest part is, Newton is a quiet town & no one would’ve ever expected this to happen.
