Carnell Alexander of Detroit is the Man Facing Jail & 30K in Child Support For a Child Courts Know Is Not His in a story that many can relate to. Even after DNA tests proved he has literally 0.00% paternity possibility, he’s still being hit up for his dollars and now, sans payments, is facing serious jail time.
He is REALLY not the father!!! Man Facing Jail & 30K in Child Support For a Child Courts Know Is Not His is in a distressed and uphill battle with Detroit courts. This even after the mother of the child admitted it’s not his (SMH)!–that’s truly wildstyle. Fearing he’d have to see prison, Carnell is breathing a slight sigh of relief as the judge from the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice has given him one more month of freedom before deliberations.

“To understand how Alexander found himself involved in such a mess, we must go back to the late ’80s, when an ex-girlfriend had just had a baby. While applying for welfare, she was instructed that she had to list the child’s father. She named Alexander as the father on state paperwork, and from that day, the state began building a case against Alexander, seeking restitution for the services that were provided to the child.”
…damn, BUT–one strong fact remains, and NEEDS to be the reason Carnell’s charges are all dismissed:
According to the news station, a process server noted that Alexander had been made aware of the state’s inquiries, since he had been given papers at his Highland Park home. One problem: This never happened. The news station notes that on the day the processor claims to have given Alexander papers informing him of the state’s interest, he was in prison for a crime he committed as a young man, and Michigan Department of Corrections records prove this. In fact, Alexander told the news station that he didn’t learn of the child support issues until he was pulled over in 1991 for a traffic violation and was arrested for being a deadbeat dad. Alexander has been oTn a one-man crusade for justice ever since.

I am out of work. My money is threatened to be taken” he told press. Carnell says the only time he was able to speak to his “son” was at the DNA test.
A big SMH for these court proceedings…it’s still legal in many states for a man to be charged for child support when the child is in fact not his. Carnell is hoping such laws will be changed, in his case and for men everywhere after him.
