All Summer 16: Top Five Weed Summer Tourist Destinations

Did you know that there are twenty U.S. states that have legalized medical marijuana and there are four states that have legalized marijuana for recreational use. Although weed is frowned upon by some people others are taking the opportunity to check out some of the states that you can smoke a little weed for recreational use and not get in any trouble for it. It’s called canna-tourism. Check out the story after the jump!

Colorado, Washington, Alaska, and Oregon are all great vacation destinations. Some of these states hold some of America’s national parks. Besides the amazing scenery these states have the best recreational marijuana markets around.

1. Colorado

Colorado legalized recreational marijuana in 2012 and sets the bar high for the recreational marijuana industry. You can take selfie’s in a weed forest and go on tours of all the best and newest dispensaries. Colorado Cannabis Tours owner and founder Michael Eymer knows that canna-tourism is essential for the success of the marijuana industry as a whole. Eymer told Complex

“People come to us not just to consume, but to experience freedom in the United States of America. We show people how good and normal cannabis can be. We take the shame away from that.”

2. Washington aka The Evergreen State

Washington recreational marjiuana law was put into play in 2014 and people from Washington were cool with the law change because dispensaries struggled to keep products on the shelves and again when regulators scrambled to establish appropriate doses for Washingtonians seeking edibles. But the state’s weed industry has bounced back with a more streamlined system and a vocal activist community. Seattle is good for what is called a “Bud and Breakfast.” These accommodations make staying in a regular hotel look boring. 420-friendly guesthouses like Bed, Baked and Beyond and 7 Leaf Bed and Breakfast offer organic farm to table dining (with or without weed), cannabis spa treatments, and outdoor smoking lounges.

3. Oregon

Supposedly Oregon is one of the coolest places on the marijuana scene. It’s been the place to go for recreational pot-smoking for the last forty years. The state has yet to get their recreational weed market running but products are available to everyone through medical dispensaries until retailers open this fall. Also, in Portland you can find cannabis-infused ice cream and cannabis bike tours.

4. Alaska

Alaska doesn’t have as much going on in the recreational scene right now. Although weed is hard to buy over-the-counter, it’s readily (and legally) gifted, and canna-tourism site Kush Tourism still ranks the state as the No. 1 canna-tourism location in the U.S. It could be because of all of the amazing sights Alaska has to offer. The northern lights, grizzly bears and melting glaciers can all be found in the great stat of Alaska ut lets not forget about the 420-friendly whale-watching cruise. And when the munchies hit, you can go out for the best fish and chips of your life.

5. District of Columbia

The District of Colombia has legalized recreational use of marijuana and possession but there is no legal way to buy it. There’s still a long way to go before becoming a canna-tourism destination. Hopefully Congress will loosen up before November—we’re all going to need something to get us through this election season.
