(Videos) Chance The Rapper’s ‘Magnificent Coloring Day’ Included Kanye West, Puppets, Fireworks + More!
On Saturday night, Chance The Rapper held his first annual Magnificent Coloring Day in his hometown of Chicago, selling out the White Sox’s US Cellular Field, filling over 50,000 seats!
Guests on the bill included Francis & The Lights, Lil Uzi Vert, Tyler The Creator, John Legend, ColleGrove (2 Chainz and Lil Wayne,) Alicia Keys and Skrillex, with a surprise full set from Kanye West, and a guest appearance from Common on John Legend’s set. Young Thug was also on the bill and was present backstage, but never got to perform because he’d arrived late.

During Kanye’s set, kids in the arena started going so crazy, they were jumping over balconies, Porta-Potties and the like, pushing security out of the way to get closer to the Pablo rapper. Ye also brought out Chance way before his scheduled headlining set, as Ye had to go to Nashville later that night, but couldn’t miss an opportunity to perform “Ultra Light Beam” with Chance for the first time. Surprisingly, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz did not follow suit during their set, missing an opportunity to perform “No Problem” with him.
During Chance’s 90-minute set later that night, he didn’t have any special guests, though he did have some elaborate puppets perform some of the features on his songs. He even had a puppet version of D.R.A.M., complete with sparkly blue dreads! Most importantly, he made sure the young crowd left with a real message, and brought out the Chicago Children’s Choir for “Blessings (Reprise),” making for suite a magical moment in the stadium.
“Really what I wanted to say was, did you know that your blessing wasn’t on no album? But it’s coming,” Chance said. “Did you know that your blessing is not at this show? But it’s coming. Did you know, that your blessing is not made of flesh? But it’s coming.”
Before the night was over, fireworks lit up the sky, and Skrillex closed it out with an energetic set to bop to as you headed to your car. Check out a few videos from the amazing event here!
