NFL: Joe McKnight’s Killer Was Arrested In 2006 For Road Rage At The Same Intersection He Shot McKnight

The way the murder of former NFL player Joe McKnight is being handled has many people wondering how in the hell is the man who shot McKnight, Ronald Gasser, free right now with no charges. Police have defended their reasoning for releasing him, saying that for now they don’t have any reason to detain him further. They do confirm that he did in fact shoot and kill McKnight but it’s feeling like they are starting to lean towards a self defense, or “stand your ground” justification, despite at least two separate witnesses saying Gasser shot McKnight as he was trying to apologize and then shot him again as he lay on the ground and he stood over him. This whole thing is just disgusting and now we find out that Gasser has a history of road rage incidents and was even arrested for it back in 2006 and the same exact intersection where he killed McKnight.

Back in 2006, a 51 year old man called 911 to reports a man driving his pick up truck in an unsafe manor. The man driving that pick up turned out to be Ronald Gasser.

The truck had a phone number that motorists could call to report unsafe driving, and the man dialed it, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Gasser picked up and told the caller he was the person driving the truck in question, the Sheriff’s Office said. An argument ensued; the caller then pulled into a gasoline station at the intersection of Holmes Boulevard and Behrman Highway to begin refueling his car, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Gasser followed the caller, confronted him and began striking him “with a closed first several times,” the Sheriff’s Office said. Gasser then left, and the other man called 911, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators later issued Gasser a misdemeanor summons for simple battery, a charge that prosecutors later dismissed, as The New Orleans Advocate had previously reported.

Even back then he wound up not having to face consequences for his actions. Starting to get the vibe that Gasser and some of this police officers down there are all “good ole boys” together.

Yesterday, Sheriff Newell Normand stated that Gasser never got out of his car and shot McKnight and definitely never stood over him and yelled “I told you not to f*ck with me”. However, two completely separate witnesses who have nothing to do with each other both said they heard the men arguing and looked and saw McKnight trying to apology for something but Gasser continued to yell in his face and then shot him. Both witnesses then confirm that Gasser did in fact walk over to McKnight as he lay on the ground and shot him again. Sheriff Normand said the three shell casings from Gasser’s gun were all in his car, which would give reason to believe he shot from inside his car but something is clearly not adding up here.
