   You should make a correction. Lock-jaw is a totally different medical condition than TMJ.
   Lock-Jaw is a usually fatal condition caused by infection of Tetanus bacteria.
   TMJ is painful and makes life difficult ( I have it ) but it’s not Lock-Jaw. I wish Iggy well with her diagnosis. TMJ is no picnic to deal with.

   Having TMJ myself, reading things like this frustrates me. Thank you Donald Frost for correcting the error and hopefully bringing a bit of education to the author of this article. I am saddened that the author would make such rude “jokes” because neither TMJ nor Lock Jaw should be made fun of.

   Please correct this article. TMJD is not lock-jaw which is caused by infection. I can tell you from experience how painful and debilitating TMJD can be. You can’t eat the types of foods you want or sleep or even get comfortable any more. As a woman, it’s appalling to poke fun of her by saying she had too much fun in the bedroom. First of all there’s no such thing and second of all I can tell you from experience TMJD makes pleasing a man very difficult and it’s no laughing matter. When you can’t open your mouth wide enough to eat a piece of toast you sure can’t put anything else in there. Then to make matters worse it’s easier getting our congress to pass a bill than finding a doctor to treat your condition.

   For you joke about iggys lock jaw being caused my to much oral sex !!!!! It is ni no way funny or amusing or cute. I have a metal jaw almost lost my life in surgery and have no condile or disks it is a debilitating condition and not a joke. Your nasty humor will come back to haunt you one day as you may suffer from not being able to smile eat talk sing laugh breaking bone off and a function we us all day every day! one day your ignorance will know PAIN. to who are you to mock a broken jaw????? Karma does come back to haunt us!!!!

   I agree with the above replies, this article is doing nothing to promote how debilitating this condition is, it is something we are stuck with for the rest of our lives. Perhaps if the publisher slowly realised they too would never be able to eat toffees, chewy bread, chew gum, sing along to their favourite song or even join in with hymns at their friends wedding. And yes, be able to do what they want to with their spouse in the bedroom without repercussions and extreme pain in their head and face for the next week, where even going to sleep brings no relief as we wake up in pain the next day too. Maybe they would think again and change their article to be a little more sympathetic towards this young artist.

   Clicking, popping, or grating sounds in the jaw joint when you open or close your mouth or chew. This may or may not be painful.
   A tired feeling in your face
   Trouble chewing or a sudden uncomfortable bite — as if the upper and lower teeth are not fitting together properly
   Swelling on the side of your face
   You may also have toothaches, headaches, neck aches, dizziness, earaches, hearing problems, upper shoulder pain, and ringing in the ears (tinnitus).

   If you are any type of “real” author, you would amend this misleading, offensive and incorrect article. If you had done even 30 seconds of research, you would have realized that TMJ disorder and lock-jaw are two completely different things and that TMJ disorder is nothing to joke about. It can be an extremely debilitating and chronic illness that has ruined people’s lives. Shame on you for the sexual implications and cavalier attitude. This woman’s career may very well be over and here you are cracking jokes, when you had the opportunity to spread awareness and show a suffering human being some compassion.

    There is something to over- stretching the jaw that may cause TMJ symptoms whether it happens in the bedroom or the dental chair or from overuse while singing loudly. So a gentle pun does not freak me out and I think vigorous sexual activity should be investigated as to probable cause; there has certainly been more pressure on women to meet this male desire – the name Monica ring a bell? However the most important thing is that she get proper non intrusive treatment preferably not from so called “oral surgeons” who will propose all kinds of splints and bite changes that have no scientific proof but which have exacerbated and escalated problems into surgical nightmares. Try a holistic dental practitioner for advice and consult a craniosacral osteopathic physician- research and get a well recommended one.

    I am appalled at the way TMJ was mocked in this article. TMJ is a very debilitating, painful disorder that can affect your life in every way possible and for you to joke about it being the result of too much “oral activity” in the bedroom makes me sick. As a patient with chronic TMJ pain after multiple different treatments, including surgery I would appreciate in the future that if you are going to write an article on a subject matter that you aren’t familiar with that you would do your research before publishing such an article.

    I don’t have TMJ but I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Any disease that is painful & debilitating in no walk in the park & should not be taken lightly or be mocked..
