Elijah Wood And Corey Feldman Open Up About Molestation In Hollywood

Both men have referred to Hollywood as a perfect place for predators to real in innocent adolescents, where they take advantage of them in many different ways. Unfortunately, this has become a reoccurring issue in Hollywood that has not only escalated but become easier due to the advancement of technology. Lord of the Rings star, Elijah Woods and Lost Boys star, Corey Feldman share some insight.

Earlier this week, Lord of the Rings star, Elijah Woods shared some comments on his thoughts on the topic of pedophilia within the industry.

“What bums me about these situations is that the victims can’t speak as loudly as the people in power,” Wood said. “That’s the tragedy of attempting to reveal what is happening to innocent people: They can be squashed, but their lives have been irreparably damaged.”

There have been many issues that have been reported on news media outlets where stars and upcoming talents have shared their horrific encounters and/or terrible experiences with this subject. And recently, Woods is not the only one to come and advocate against these tragedies.

During an interview with The Hollywood reporter, Lost Boys star Corey Feldman shared his experience and the experience of his friend who was taken advantage of when they were young boys.

Feldman calls Hollywood a place “where adults have more direct and inappropriate connection with children than probably anywhere else in the world” and warns that the abuse is only becoming more prevalent thanks to social media. The actor explained that producers create fake accounts in order to contact unsuspecting children. “It’s more now than ever because nowadays you can use the internet to create fake profiles and fake accounts. They reach out to little kids on Twitter, they reach out to little kids on Facebook, and they say, ‘I’m a big producer and I can help you.’ With social media we have more access than ever to everybody. It’s a growing problem, not a shrinking problem.”

“He had more direct abuse than I did. With me, there were some molestations, and it did come from several hands, so to speak, but with Corey, his was direct rape, whereas mine was not actual rape. And his also occurred when he was 11. My son is 11 now, and I can’t even begin to fathom the idea of something like that happening to him. It would destroy his whole being.”

“I believe that Haim’s rapist was probably connected to something bigger, and that is probably how he has remained protected for all these years. This person uses intimidation and threats as a way to keep people quiet. And all these men were all friends. Ask anybody in our group of kids at that time: They were passing us back and forth to each other. [Alison Arngrim] from Little House on the Prairie said [in an interview], “Everybody knew that the two Coreys were just being passed around.” Like it was something people joked about on studio lots. We’re not talking about huge executives and directors that I am aware of that were involved in this. The people that I knew doing it were publicists, they were photographers for teen magazines, things like that.”

Feldman continued to explain that a handful of these predators would always attend private parties, charity events and awards shows that were teeming with young children ranging in ages 10-16. Oftentimes, these men coax the parents into allowing them to take the kids to these functions in order to network and Feldman and Wood insist that this is not their only intention.
