NBA: Lebron James Actually Thinks Kevin Durant Joining The Warriors Is Good For The League
Kevin Durant has caught a lot of heat for joining the super team of super teams by taking his talents to the Bay area to join forces with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. If anyone knows about making a career change in order to be part of something better it would definitely be Lebron James. During a recent interview with Business Insider, Lebron spoke on Durant’s move and defended his right to do what he wanted as a free agent.

While many fans think Durant’s move essentially ruined any chance of the NBA being competitive next season, Lebron sees it differently.
I think everyone had the “wow” thing. My [reaction] was no different from the average person who doesn’t know basketball to the person who watches it or covers it every day. So, I think it’s all great for our league. Our league is very competitive. It’s continued to grow, and [NBA Commissioner] Adam Silver has done a great job of picking up where David Stern started, so it’s pretty cool.
When pressed about if he understands the backlash he received when he left Cleveland for Miami now that he sees the backlash another superstar is getting for joining a super team, Bron explained that each situation is different.
Well, I think every decision is different. My decision to leave Cleveland to go to Miami and then go back is different from Kevin Durant leaving OKC [home of the Oklahoma City Thunder] and going to the Warriors. It’s different from Shaq leaving Orlando and going to the [Los Angeles] Lakers. It’s different from Michael retiring, coming back, retiring, coming back, and then going to the [Washington] Wizards. So I think every decision is different, and how much you have invested in that player, I guess, or how much you feel for that player is how you’re going to react. So everyone is different.
Durant’s move is good for the league from a standpoint of viewership. Fans are either going to tune in to Warriors games hoping to see them lose, or supporters will be tuning in to show love to the Warriors but either way people will be watching. As far as the issue about competitiveness however we will just have to wait and see but when the season starts there will only be about four teams with a legit shot at winning the title and OKC is no longer one of them.
We will see if Bron still thinks its good for the league if he finds out his Cavs can’t beat a super stacked Warriors team.
