“Beez In The Trap” Producer Kenoe Accuses Just Blaze Of Jacking Fab’s “So NY” Beat; Just Blaze Responds

Fabolous recently made a splash putting NY on his back with his new record “So NY,” produced by the one and only Just Blaze. Or was it? Kenoe, an up-and-coming producer whose current claim to fame is Nicki Minaj’s street banger “Beez In The Trap” with 2 Chainz, is crying foul, claiming the vet actually jacked the entire beat after Kenoe wouldn’t clear the record for Fab. Kenoe has obvious ties to the YMCMB camp now, and didn’t want to cause any rifts with Lil Wayne over the opening line, “I’m so NY, Weezy probably don’t like me.” Below, Kenoe tells Hip-Hip Wired the story of what happened, and Just issues a response.

Keno’s Side

“Fab hit me on the phone and was like, ‘yo I got this record and I want to drop it,” Kenoe tells Hip-Hop Wired. “He was like ‘I had the beat for a minute’ and he called Just Blaze cause he had been working with him to see if he made the beat. Just Blaze said no, it wasn’t his beat. So then he told me how he had Wayne in the intro, etc.”

“After I heard it I told his people I didn’t want no part of it because Wayne is my people,” Kenoe says adamantly. “If he want to use the beat take, Wayne off the intro and change the hook cause I felt like it could be a big record if he put the real hook on it.”

“I check back with Duro and he told me they decided to not use the beat. Then I get a call today from my people and they like ‘Fab drop this record and they sent it to me and when I heard I hear the same elements and exact same drum pattern,” explains Kenoe. “I’m like, damn. Just Blaze [is] supposed to be a big-time producer but he is not creative enough to make a whole new beat on his own?”

Just Blaze’s Side:

“So NY is a great record, but musically it’s in the same vein of many rock oriented records I’ve done. See PSA, Breathe, U don’t know, Safe 2 Say, C’mon Baby, The Invitation, The Scientist, Session One, the Fab and Game record that leaked a few years ago, an unreleased Blueprint 3 record that I wish I could play you guys lol.. I can go on.. Truth is, the reason they initially called me about the record is because they thought I did original beat in the first place because of that exact reason. It contained elements that many people identify with me. Not that I’m the only one to have ever done that sound, but many in the culture do identify it with me and its become one of my signatures over the years.

While the record isn’t a dis to Wayne in any way, I understand Kenoe’s reasoning as to why he declined for his track to be used due to their relationship and the fact that people do speculate on the sidelines. It’s unfortunate that he feels this way, but I do wish him continued success in the future regardless. All love.”
