NBA players to follow on Twitter

The technology world is one that is rapidly evolving. With social networking going from a convenience to a norm to a necessity, it is becoming more and more relevant to use these methods to keep in touch with not only news topics, but our favorite celebrities as well. Here’s a look at 11 players whose Twitter accounts are alive, kicking, and itching for more followers.

Lebron James

“King James”, who is fast approaching one million followers, is debatably the most talked about player in the NBA. His groundbreaking move to the Miami Heat during the offseason was a part of Twitter’s “#trendingtopics” more often than not. LeBron’s Twitter is very fan friendly. He not only interacts with fans, but also isn’t afraid to tweet a bit of his personal life.

Dirk Nowitzki

One of the most intriguing things about Dirk’s Twitter to me is his ample awareness of other sports. When the Rangers were in the running for the World Series, he was one of their biggest supporters, tweeting frequently about the games, and showing his disgust upon their losses. The only Maverick on this list, Nowitzki is fairly new to the tweeting world.

Shaquille O’Neal

Definitely the goofiest player on this list, “the Shaqtus”, whose bio lists him as “Quotatious. I perform random acts of Shaqness”, is perhaps one of the first NBA players to take advantage of the tweeting world. He’s perhaps the most fan aware and fan friendly player in the game, and he knows it.

Chris Bosh

The second part of the Heat’s tyrannic trio to grace this list, it should be interesting to follow his reactionary tweets to working with both LeBron and D Wade. His tweets seem to be one of the more personal of the players on this list. They seem to be more focused on his family; though he definitely gets pumped on game day.

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade  likes to keep it simple in the tweet world, though off of Twitter his life may seem a lot more hectic and exciting. With Bosh and James now to work with, there is no telling how his stats will be impacted. The most interesting and heart-warming part of his Twitter, however, is his Bio: “I’m a father first and everything else after that..”.

Vince Carter

Vince Carter may have disappeared off some people’s radar, but he is still very much the all-star caliber player he was during his time with the Raptors. Now with the Magic, alongside Dwight Howard, his stats have shot back up. He probably tweets the most frequently out of every person on this list.

Manu Ginobli

The Argentinian native will keep you on your toes with his bilingual tweets, but is a good follow, especially if you’re a Spurs fan. He is very interactive, and proudly displays a Spurs/Argentina jersey as his profile picture.

Steve Nash

The calm, cool, and collected Phoenix Suns point guard is just that on his Twitter page. Not only is he interactive with fans, the epitome of the team player also tweets quite a bit about different charities that he supports, and how the follower can become a part of them.

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is the Oklahoma City Thunder. Where would the young franchise be if they hadn’t acquired the former Texas Longhorn superstar? Durant’s tweets are playful with his followers, entertaining to the public, and enticing for fans of the Thunder, and the game, to come watch him play.

Chris Paul

Chris Paul is one of the best players in the game right now. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan and a devout Christian, Chris Paul displays both of these things in his week in and week out tweets. The 25 year old New Orleans Hornet tweets about his walk of life, and, of course, basketball.

Dwight Howard

The Orlando Magician, Dwight Howard, can be up there with Shaquille O’Neal in the humor of his tweets, but often uses his Twitter primarily to advertise his endorsements to the world. Whether its his new shoes or his new album, there always seems to be something. His interactions are short, sweet, and to the point; much like his gameplay.
